The Series

Welcome to New York City's Upper East Side, where my friends and I live, play and sleep-sometimes with each other. Enter the scandalous world of Gossip Girl: a world where everyone is gorgeous, everything is fabulous, and jealousy and betrayal are everywhere you look.

The book that inspired the TV show! After leaving boarding school, Serena van der Woodsen is back on the Upper East Side with her best friend Blair Waldorf and Blair's boyfriend, Nate. Everyone is watching and whispering about what will happen next...

Book 1: Gossip Girl After getting mysteriously kicked out of boarding school, Serena van der Woodsen is back where she belongs-Manhattan's Upper East Side, where the posh townhouses, designer clothes and exclusive parties are almost as fabulous as she is. All eyes are on Serena, but will her former best friend Blair Waldorf be willing to share the spotlight?

Book 2: You Know You Love Me It's Blair's seventeenth birthday, and she knows exactly what she wants-her boyfriend Nate Archibald all to herself. Too bad Blair's been too busy filling out Ivy League college applications to notice that Nate may not be a one-girl guy.

Book 3: All I Want Is Everything Blair and Serena are back to being BFFs and they're off to St. Bart's for some Christmas-time fun in the sun. With a romantic rock star and a cute stepbrother in tow, it's going to be one sizzling week-on and off the beach!

Book 4: Because I'm Worth It It's fashion week and the only place crazier than the fashion shows are the wild parties. Will Serena's sudden catwalk stardom make her new boyfriend seem totally last season?

Book 5: I Like it Like That It's spring break and the whole crew is heading to Sun Valley for some aprs-ski hot tub fun. With Nate playing knight-in-shining-armor to his crazy new girlfriend, Georgie, and Blair batting her eyelashes at Serena's brother Erik, the nights will be hot enough to stave off the mountain cold.

Book 6: You're the One That I Want Mailboxes all over the Upper East Side are piling up with overstuffed envelopes from the Ivy League. Will who-got-in-where distract people from the more important question: who's-hooking-up-with-who?

Book 7: Nobody Does it Better Spring is here and everyone is getting out of the house-and into the Plaza. Serena and Jenny are partying in the penthouse with New York's hippest band, The Raves, while Blair's taken up residence to get some alone time with Nate. And if posh hotel suites aren't plush enough, there's always Senior Spa Day!

Book 8: Nothing Can Keep Us Together When Blair and Serena go head-to-head for the starring role in a major Hollywood movie, there's sure to be some drama worthy of the silver screen.

Book 9: Only in Your Dreams It's the last summer before college, and love is in the air. Blair's off to London with her new British boyfriend-who's an awful lot like Nate. Nate's smooching beach babe Tawny-who's basically the anti-Blair. And Serena is half of Hollywood's hot new pairing-as if she wasn't smoldering on her own!

Book 10: Would I Lie To You Serena and Blair head to the Hamptons to be resident co-muses to the super-famous designer Bailey Winter, who just happens to live next door to Nate's beachside estate. So just how neighborly will these new neighbors get?

Book 11: Don't You Forget About Me The countdown to college has officially begun! In just ten days Blair, Serena, Nate, Vanessa and Dan leave the Upper East Side. The countdown means three things: scandalous end-of-summer parties, now-or-never kisses, and one heartbreaking goodbye.

Book: It Had To Be You: The Gossip Girl Prequel Gossip Girl takes us back in time, to the year before Serena left for boarding school, to find out why she left and how it all began.

The Series

Blair Waldorf: Poor B-the world is always ganging up on her. Her dad ran off to France with another man, and her mom married a loser. Despite her straight A's, she nearly didn't get into Yale, her dream school, and she was unceremoniously booted from her bedroom when her baby sister came along. But don't feel too sorry for B. She happens to own a private tropical island, she's often compared to her idol, Audrey Hepburn, and she's got Frederic Fekkai on speed dial. B may have been born into her fabulous UES existence, but she's also not afraid to play dirty to get what she wants. And she knows exactly what she wants-or rather, who: her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Nate Archibald.

Serena van der Woodsen: Then there's S. She's the girl every guy wants and every girl wants to be. If she wasn't so nice, we'd have to pull her pretty blonde hair out. She's been everywhere and done everything: she has her own brand of perfume, she's starred in a movie, and one of S's body parts was even plastered all over the city. But being stunning isn't always easy. S somehow manages to get herself into all sorts of trouble, especially with her best friend, B-is it really S's fault that B's boyfriend lover her so much? Who says S didn't find him first.

Nate Archibald: Oh N, why do we love you so? With his gold-streaked hair and glittering green eyes, N is the prince of all our dreams. He's the BMOC at Riverside Prep, and has his pick of Ivy League universities. He also has the two hottest best friends in town, B and S. Too bad he can't figure out who he wants more. Poor guy. Maybe if he smoked up a little bit less, it would all become clear.

Jenny Humphrey: Sweet little J has a big heart-too bad it's hiding behind the only thing guys seem to see when they look at her: her DD chest. J just wants what every girl wants: to get invited to all the coolest parties and for everyone to know her name. Seeing how she often finds herself in the gossip pages, she ought to consider her mission accomplished. J lives with her writer brother, Dan, and her kooky dad, Rufus, in a rambling apartment on the Upper West Side... but not for long. J is heading off to boarding school...watch out!

Dan Humphrey: Anyone for coffee and a cigarette? With his greasy dark brown hair and a body that subsists on Folgers, D writes love poems better kept secret. That didn't stop him from getting published in The New Yorker, singing for The Raves, and even hooking up with S. But even though he's had brushes with fame, D is content to brood in his apartment and scribble poems in his moleskin notebook, or spend time with his sometimes-love V.

Vanessa Abrams: With her shaved head and permanently black-clad body, V is easy to pick out in a crowd. She's a walking fashion no, but that's never stopped her from getting the attention of D, B's step-brother Aaron, even some Indie-film bigwigs. She might never leave Brooklyn, where she lives with her sister, Ruby-or would she? There's a certain poetry-writing boy who smells of cigarettes who just might be able to convince her to take a walk on the wild west side. The Upper West Side, that is.
